Out today for a walk saw a few Otters and got some good photos of seals.I then found this dead Minke whale washed up it was about 10 or 12 feet long and had not been dead for very long i have reported it and hopefully they will come and take samples from it too see if they tell what killed it .

Out today for the first time in a while the weather has not been very good lately but i manged to find five otters and get these photos of the family group i have been following. 

Out today for a walk and found this juvenile only managed to get a few photos but the light was really good for a change .This photo is just as it was taken it has not been cropped or played about with i try and get as close as i can without disturbing the otters and leave without them noticing me.We have been really lucky with the weather lately in Shetland it's been cold but dry and bright which is really good for photography.

We have been having some beautiful weather lately so i thought i would make the most of it and spend some time looking for Otter i saw three but they were too far away to get any photos but i did manage to get some seals instead  .

Out today and found the same family group that i have been watching over the last few days all four of them feeding then suddenly a fifth otter appeared and fed with the rest of them for about ten minuets then swam away .I'm no sure if the other one was a male or a cub from last season but the mother did not mind it being there and made no attempt to chase it away .

Out for a walk today and found an old friend this otter with the scar on her nose has been around for a few years now she had three young with her the last time i saw her with young was two years ago she had three cubs then  .I watched them for about an hour feeding and a various things from crabs to small fish the cubs all seemed able to catch fish and eat them in the water only coming on to the rocks with the bigger fish .I hope to see more of them over the next few months before they leave the mother .
